Pastels sec, 30x40cm
Here is a painting of beagles which I finished couple weeks ago. It was a nice experience portraying 9 dogs together :)
Pastel, ~20×26″
I made also a giclée artprint. It’s almost impossible to distinguish it from the original.
It is printed on the highest quality paper, Hahnemuhle German Etching (310g), with a fine surface texture which is velvety smooth:
The printer used is a large format HP Designjet Z100 with great HP Vivera archival inks.
In order to make the print in such size, I had to make 12 photos (10megapixels) then stich it together. It is time consuming work, because photographs stiching software is not capable to cope with art, where every pixel is important. Scanning is not possible because pastel can easely smudge when laying on flatbed scanner.
Beagles again! I’ve just started new painting with a few beagle faces. I use here a great French (made in Strasbourg) paper Lana for pastels.
Recently I’ve again started to take step by step photos during my work. Every break to photograph tends to deconcentrate but I will try do do them more often :)
This is beagle portrait I’ve done recently (there will be more beagles soon!). On first three photos I had to enhance it’s contrast to be more visible, so on next the sketch is barely visible.
